And the two teams in the U.S. Open Cup are...
Yesterday we found out the two teams that will be going to head to head in The U.S. Open Cup, the teams are Columbus Crew who after D.C. United 13' minute Pablo Hernandaz got a giant goal. The next 69 minutes were scoreless, in til the final minute of regulated time [90 minutes] when Marc Burch got a game changing goal which pushed the game into extra time. The game wining goal was scored by Guillermo Shellotte in the early minutes [98' to be exact]. Now for the other half of the match the defending champions Seattle Sounders FC pushed past Chivas USA starting with a 9' minute goal by Nate Jaqua. Though the Sounders had a lot of chances Chivas held them to 1 goal in the first half of play [45 minutes], then in minute 58' Freddy Montero got his 10th goal of the season which puts him in 3rd place for most goals of the season. Then 10 minutes later Jesus Padilla got Chivas USA's first [and last] goal. The rest of regulated time was rather uneventful. The in the second minute [92'] of time Juqua got his 2nd goal of the game by winning an insurance goal. The final score was Seattle Sounders FC:3 Chivas USA:1. The final game of the cup will be Tuesday final October 5 at Quest Field in Seattle.
